The people behind IFG

The IFG's principal asset is people: thousands of individuals in different companies around the world, each with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry. They contribute to a culture of synergy and cooperation between Factor companies. Ultimately, it is their effort that leads to the high quality of services our members' clients expect and enjoy.

In order to maintain and expand their awareness of belonging to one large, global family, we promote and stimulate active cooperation through participation in our various technical committees, training programmes and meetings around the world.

Erik Timmermans

Erik (°1960) was appointed as Secretary General of IFG as per August 1st, 2005.
He worked for 19 years at International Factors Belgium (now KBC Commercial Finance) in various sales, marketing and general management positions. Between 2002 and 2005 he was Managing Director of the “Brussels International Trade Mart”, a permanent international B2B exhibition centre, part of an American real estate group.

Erik is Belgian, holds a university degree in economics (specialization in marketing) and followed a wide range of additional executive education programmes in Belgium and in France (INSEAD).

Erik’s main role as CEO of IFG, apart from the general management of the Secretariat, is to optimize value for all members (shareholders, partners, associated partners and sponsors). During the last years, Erik has strongly developed IFG’s Trade Association activities in education, industry information, lobbying and networking. He travels intensively all over the world to meet with members, prospective members and industry associations.

 

Michèle Cardoens

Michèle Cardoens has been working since 1977 for IFG, which she joined directly after completing her translator’ studies.

She has participated in the development of all the data exchange systems used in IFG since its foundation, the latest one being IFexchange. She is the Operations Manager of the group. As the first line support person on IFexchange, she is also in charge of the users’ education and is a member of the IT Committee and the Legal Committee.

Internally, she is handling all the Human Resources Administration and related matters.

 

Simona Sabatelli

Simona joined IFG in December 2007, after having worked during 7 years in different international companies in Brussels, amongst which Toyota Motor Europe and American Standard Europe.

At IFG Simona has taken up the role of Assistant to the Secretary General: she will act as right-hand to the SG, will prepare sales & membership visits, will support the organization of educational programs and networking events, and will provide general support to the SG during his absence.


Simona is Italian, in Brussels since 1998, and she holds a university degree in social sciences with psychology (BSc).

Sophie Stevens

Sophie joined IFG in December 1995, after having worked during 7 years in different companies and countries. Sophie started working for the group to produce the Handbook and then helped improving the secretariat working structure by implementing the IT network and environment, setting up the databases, then the internal technical and organizational support. In 1996, she created the 1st version of IFG's website and became also webmaster.

She is currently responsible the Marketing & Office Management of the secretariat, as well as the DTP productions, IT management including the Website. She is also in charge of the coordination on the legal aspects relating to the Belgian Law and its compliances as well as part of the Administration.
